Character Leadership Presentations to be Held

January 28, 2010

Nemaha Valley High School is pleased to welcome Mr. Rob Miller, of Miller Sports Consulting Group.  Rob will be visiting Seneca on March 22, 2010, and will conduct three sessions while here. Rob will address our entire student body on character and leadership.  Rob will then conduct a session with our coaches and sponsors of our extra-curricular programs.  Nemaha Valley High School students and their parents are invited to Rob’s last presentation of the evening.

Character Leadership for the Coaching Staff and Team Captains — Rob Miller
This session will focus on team building, character development, and sportsmanship from the perspective of working with the coaching staff, and in turn, team captains and student leaders. It will include:
• The foundation of character leadership,
• Assessing your current culture,
• Creating the culture-first steps to great teams (the team being the coaching staff), and
• Seven ways to lead your staff (an approach that parallels captains leading teams).

This session will be followed by a round table discussion on “Redefining the Term Athlete” — self-assessment processes that looks at the responsibilities that come with being part of a team, coupled with support from coaches and administrators that empowers student-athletes to make choices that can help them become better people and teammates.

Rob Miller former director of the NAIA Champions of Character initiative came to ProActive Coaching after years of presenting nationally for the NAIA.  He delivers team building, character development, sportsmanship and other messages throughout the United States and Canada.  After working with Bruce Brown of Pro Active Coaching for three years he has gained the knowledge that goes along with his passion to bring the message of character in sports alive.  Prior to partnering with Bruce Brown, Miller worked for the NAIA and has served as  a collegiate and youth-level coach, Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference commissioner, development director and executive director of the National Christian College Athletic Association.  He has also established his own consulting business.

Rob’s visit is being funded by the Midwest Dairy Council, Chocolate Milk Grant, received by Nemaha Valley High School for the 2009-2010 school year.  Thank you to the Midwest Dairy Council and all local dairymen for their support.  All parents of Nemaha Valley High School Students are invited and encouraged to attend.
