Alumni Basketball and Volleyball Tournament Held
December 22, 2009
Over fifty alumni participated in the annual volleyball and basketball tournaments held the weekend of December 18th and 19th. The basketball tournament had five teams compete with each team playing four games. There were many competitive games including including the first game of the evening, a double overtime thriller. Every team had at least one win and at least one loss. The championship team of Scott Carlson (01), Kellen Wilhelm (01), Jeremy Haverkamp (03), Jake Taylor (08), Steven Rusche (96), Kelly Williams (04), and Darren Hermesch (95) had a tournament record of 3 wins and 1 loss.
The volleyball tournament was held on Saturday morning. Three teams played a round robin format. The team consisting of Jessica Deters (95), Johanna Johnson (95), Nikki Honeyman (96), Leah Heinen (99), Lisa Runnebaum (05), and Sarah Helm (05), were the winners.
The Nemaha Valley Schools Educational Foundation, founded in 2003, would like to thank all of those who participated and donated to the scholarship fund.Over the past nine years, thousands of dollars have been raised from these two tournaments to support Nemaha Valley High School students with their post high school plans. Thank you to everyone who contributes to the Foundation and participates in these events.
