USD 442 Board of Education meeting
January 18, 2010

The U.S.D. #442 Board of Education met for the regular monthly meeting on Monday, January 18, 2010 beginning at 7:00 p.m.

Following approval of the agenda, the following items were approved:
1. Minutes of the December 14, 2009, January 5, January 11, January 12, and January 13 meetings
2. Four nutrition grants from the State Department of Education totaling $1,800
3. Annual independent audit report from Jim Long, CPA
4. Early retirement applications from Deanna Lizzol, Arminda Feldkamp and Joyce Meyer
5. Inclement weather make-up days on March 12 and April 5; April 14 was changed from an early dismissal for students to a full day
6. Bids for telephone system upgrades at the central office, special education office and high school
7. Authorized use of forms and operations used for Medicaid funding
8. A special meeting to be held on January 19 at 12:15 p.m.

Discussed were the following items:
1. School consolidation issues after which the board directed Supt. Harris to write a letter to USD 488 and USD 451 stating that Nemaha Valley is interested in continuing discussion relating to the issue
2. The property at 709 Nemaha
3. Water damage to the middle school gym floor
4. The 2010-2011 school calendar
5. The legislative luncheon held in Sabetha on January 5
6. Budget planning for the remainder of the 2009-2010 and for 2010-2011

Executive sessions were held to discuss employer-employee negotiations and non-elected personnel. The meeting was adjourned at 8:51 p.m.
