Staff Spotlight - March 8

by Jamie Swart
March 08, 2010

Each week we will be doing a staff spotlight featuring a staff member from both Nemaha Valley Elementary and Middle School and from Nemaha Valley High School. Every Monday a new set of staff members will be featured on the page. We will be asking every staff member the same set of questions.

I am a Special Education para for grades 4-5th this year.

2. How long have you worked for the district?
This is my 24th year with the district and Special Education Coop.

My favorite part has to be working with a student on Math or another subject and seeing their expression when they figure it out and can do it without help.

4. What is your memorable moment from work?
One of the things I’ll always remember is one of the students I worked with walking down the halls singing “Pretty Woman.” We later lost him to health issues. Also, hearing about the fire while on vacation in Indiana.

5. Who is your favorite sports team?
As a native Nebraskan, Huskers, of course. I also enjoy watching the NV Raiders and KU.

6. What is your favorite restaurant?
Lazlow’s in Lincoln, NE and Freddy’s and Windmill.

7. Give us one piece of advice for the students in our district…
No matter what life throws at you don’t give up.
